Position Summary

The Manager role centres on project delivery with some involvement in combines business development as part of a practice team.  A Manager will typically work on a single project at a time, but will also be involved as part of the practice team in developing pitches, writing proposals, or longer-range business development activity.

Specifically, the Manager role involves:

  • Leading strategy and diligence projects, from designing the approach to overseeing analysis to synthesising findings

  • Leading OC&C project teams (typically 3-6 people on a project), including assisting team members to develop consulting skills; i.e. helping motivated and talented individuals to progress quickly

  • Building strong working relationships with client contacts during projects, and beginning to build a personal network

  • Supporting sector team efforts to reinforce OC&C’s position as leaders in strategy consultancy in our chosen areas

About The Candidate

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage analysis and delivery of consulting projects, ensuring client satisfaction

  • Assist in the design and delivery of client pitches and proposals

  • Deliver against deadlines

  • Manage and motivate project teams

  • Work effectively with clients and other advisors

  • Translate strategy and business needs into actionable recommendations

  • Support the development of IP (in the form of publications, conference presentations, etc)

     

    Qualifications

  • Academics: Good candidates will typically have an excellent first degree, and in some cases an MBA from a leading business school (although that is not essential)

  • More important to us is relevant work experience, e.g.:

    • Outstanding track record of problem-solving, and achieving / exceeding objectives in a project-based environment, with the equivalent of four to five years’ experience of complex strategy consulting projects, including experience from a blue chip and / or strategy consultancy group
    • Interest in and some experience of some part of the Media and/or Comms & Technology landscape
    • Experience of managing workstreams and leading consulting teams
    • Experience in translating key client issues into clear deliverables and implementing this advice
