The International Practice Manager role is a fantastic senior level opportunity to work strategically with the OC&C partnership, providing innovative commercial development and strategic support to the global practice. Operating at the highest levels within the firm, the role will have a strong business development feel to it and will be strongly involved in all strategic aspects of the international practice, acting as a key internal advisor to the partners. The International Practice Manager will work closely with the relevant sectors to put together an effective business plan covering all other areas of the business development, commercial and marketing mix.

  • Lead and provide strategic oversight and guidance to help design and achieve sector strategic plans and budgets with a primary focus on:

    • Commercial collaboration

    • Client Mix and sector focus

    • Talent and People

  • Embody a value-added central role for our sectors as a more systematic basis for approaching commercial opportunities as a sector rather than as individuals; focussed on strategic client development and helping to drive a step-change in commercial effectiveness

  • Have a direct impact on business success and development by ensuring the effective operation of the practice group internationally

  • Support processes that allow for the best possible deployment of resource / capability against commercial opportunities to help to unlock client, developing market and capability opportunities

  • Support the effort to demonstrate capabilities by providing access to credentials, codified approaches, and the expert roster and contribute to a systematic understanding of project wins and losses

  • Support visibility of consistent information sharing in order to drive effective and timely commercial dialogues – create new commercial information flow

  • Manage key marketing activities (investment in banner IP, conferences, client events, etc)

  • Assist sectors in playing a role in developing talent and commercial platforms

  • Drive effectiveness of sector meetings




  • Support sector leads on budget planning and contribute to international commercial planning discussions, with a focus on strategic priorities

  • Have an understanding of what the group needs to do in order to achieve annual objectives and report achievement against sector KPIs. Recommend remedies through recruitment, adapted ways of working or change of commercial approach

  • Track and turn sector planning discussions into executable actions
  • Install process for pursuing proposals of €300k+ with explicit discussion to test whether there is relevant / valuable expertise from around the network that could be brought to bear on each opportunity

  • Have indirect oversight of the utilisation of all resources and resourcing investments against key client opportunities or accounts

  • Record and monitor specific wins and losses in order to suggest recommendations for improving performance

  • Updating and keeping live team expertise database to allow for rapid and effective identification of the relevant experts

  • Creating a systematic view of our capabilities by:

    • Maintaining a project/proposal database;

    • Implementing and managing a system for project expertise knowledge sharing;

    • Maintaining up-to-date credentials;

    • Updating and keeping live each sector’s best set of topic-by-topic credentials

  • Providing support for specific pieces of IP as well as broader marketing initiatives

  • Supporting an effective agenda for Practice Group meetings

  • Helping to coordinate key meetings as well as weekly / monthly forums

  • Contribute to the effective integration of new team members to the sector through internal coaching and guidance

  • Adhere to and/or develop best practice to improve efficiency and transparency to all sectors to enhance collaboration across office and sector boundaries
  • Act as a lead sponsor for innovation and improved ways of working as an international sector
  • Assist in sector focused recruitment and retention efforts with a courageous ability to challenge status quo with sector’s interests in mind
  • Compile regular sector financials for local office



  • Outstanding, experienced and trusted professional with personal gravitas and the ability to interact with all Partners across the international partnership

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication is required

  • The International support team is small so it is key that candidates have the ability to operate strategically but with a hands-on approach as well

  • Extensive and proven business development experience in a professional services setting

  • Experience using pipeline tracking tools and software

  • Confident using common features of Excel  

  • Understands when to act and when to ask

  • Understands the need and has the ability to manage expectations at all levels
